We have compiled and updated information on 4626 Enlisted Men who fell, or who are attributed to have fallen during WW1, as follows;

  1. 2,            Regimental Sergeant Majors (1 x M.C., 1 x D.C.M.)

  2. 16,          Company Sergeant Majors (2 x M.M., 1 x D.C.M.)

  3. 10,          Company Quartermaster Sergeants (1 x M.M., 1 x D.C.M.)

  4.  3,           Colour Sergeants (1 x M.M.)

  5. 1,            Staff Sergeant

  6. 170,        Sergeants (1 x V.C., 14 x M.M., 14 x D.C.M.)

  7. 132,        Lance Sergeants (11 x M.M.)

  8. 83,          Corporals (8 x M.M., 1 x D.C.M.)

  9. 497,        Lance Corporals (14 x M.M., 6 x D.C.M.)

  10. 3687,      Privates (2 x V.C., 22 x M.M., 4 x D.C.M., 2 x R.V.M.)

  11. 5,            Guardsman (Recorded as Guardsmen by: CWGC)

  12. 4,            Gunners

  13. 1,            Rifleman

  14. 1,            Signaller

  15. 1,            Bandsman

  16. 11,          Drummers

  17. 2,            Boy Soldiers

The Commonwealth War Graves Commission records them as being listed on Memorials or resting in Cemeteries, located in the following countries;

  1. 41,         Belgium

  2. 1,           Egypt

  3. 220,       France

  4. 4,           Germany

  5. 1,           Ireland

  6. 231,       England

Our current information reveals that the youngest Soldier to fall was 14, and the oldest was 52 years old, also that the 1st recorded loss was on 10th August 1914, and the last was on the 9th August 1921.

From the information complied we are able to determine with the aid of "Charts" the disposition of losses for Enlisted Men in WW1 by Rank, and Battalion
